handmade jewelry

One of the best compliments I ever received was about my handmade jewelry. I was having dinner with my boyfriend and meeting several of his friends. One of his friends was raving about my necklace, and of course, asked me where I had bought it. When I told her I had made it myself, she was astounded. She immediately asked if I would make one for her so she could purchase it for her sister's upcoming birthday. It was so gratifying to realize that my skills had reached the point of appearing professional, and that I had created something beautiful and eye-catching. This was my first handmade jewelry sale. I've been crafting handmade jewelry for a couple of years now and find it endlessly fascinating. There's always something new to try or some revolutionary technique to master. I prefer working with wire and natural cut stones. Stone beads are very handy, but I also love working with tumbled stones and wire wrapping. This handmade jewelry technique is much more difficult, because the stones do not conform to any standard shape nor do they have a pre-drilled hole that can be used to stabilize the piece. I think the results, however, are much more unique and individual. I love giving handmade jewelry as gifts, and they are always appreciated. I think people enjoy knowing that I have crafted something individual just for them, and the time and effort I have put into it shows how much I care about them.
