handmade jewelry

Having gotten bored recently I tried my hand at handmade jewelry. I thought to myself that today's style is moving more towards creative integration of everyday things rather than traditional metalwork, so why don't I go to WalMart or Michael's and see what I can make? Well I had a blast making this handmade jewelry and it wasn't even that hard.

Although I'm not finished with my prototype handmade jewelry item, I can still tell you what I've been making. I bought this gold colored metal chain from the gardening section and took the links off to make one long section for the neck piece and then successively long and short links that hang down from it creating the illusion of a triangle. It almost looks Egyptian in nature. Anyway what I did next is buy some test rhinestones to see how it would look if I attached them to the tops of the links (the flat part) and create this one of a kind handmade jewelry item from scratch. The base is gold and I was thinking of using light blue/green rhinestones for the decoration. I think it would add an amazing touch and make it look really expensive when in fact I only spent very little to create it.
