The Chinese Coin Necklace |

Years ago, one of my favorite necklaces was made with leather straps and chinese coins. The chinese coin necklace had three metal discs with holes in the shape of squares in the center. The leather strips were laced between those holes. The coin necklace was secured in the back with a leather loop that wound around another small circular piece of leather.
I wore that coin necklace a bunch during my high school years. It felt right on me. I found a pair of earrings that worked well with the coin necklace. They too, were chinese coins and they were matched with brass. I just loved that pairing! Eventually the leather clasp broke on the necklace and I was no longer able to wear it. I still have that necklace and have recently pondered on a way to fix the clasp so I could begin wearing it again. Even now, I still am drawn to the look of the chinese coin necklace and earrings. I plan to do some "doctoring" here real soon. I will get some leather pieces from a jewelry website and should have no problem revamping the old coin necklace. You know what they say..."what is old, is new again!" |
