coin jewelry, handcrafted jewelry Loden and Cream Cuff w/brass

There are too many positive things to list when thinking about how much more informative, easy, entertaining and wonderful life is because of the web. It could be that I grew up with the rise of surfing the internet and still have the sound of dial up stuck in my head but there are so many random niches, markets, interests, products and hobbies I would have probably never been exposed to if it wasn’t for our online world. A recent example of this has been coin jewelry for me. If you have never heard of coin jewelry, one, you are in the right place and two it is now one of my favorite niches in the sea of handmade jewelry out there.

From an early age, I had an interest in old coins stemming from my mom’s dad who had jars and jars of them he had collected over his lifetime. When he passed way while I was still young, my mom stored all his old glass jelly jars filled with coins in my bedroom closet. My mom would always know when I had been thumbing through them because my hands smelled of silver and that really unique metallic smell old coins get when bunched together. That is why I was so pumped to see a whole niche of handcrafted jewelry based around the history of old coins. The first website that exposed me to this great genre of handmade jewelry was called Old Money Corp found at http://oldmoneycorp.com/. I think coins or monies in general are great artifacts in understanding a culture, era or civilization so just browsing the online shelves of coin jewelry is really cool.

I have no idea how I stumbled onto this awesome jeweler but there was something that made me click the URL, maybe it was the spirit of my grandpa. I was searching jewelry in the first place because my grandma’s 85 birthday (mom’ side) is coming up and she loves vintage handcrafted jewelry.

Check out this Loden and Cream Cuff with brass coins. I am actually thinking about getting it for my grandma if my brother will split the cost because the smaller coins are Mexican, which is her decent. The larger pieces are commemorative Canadian medallions. Too bad she isn’t part Canadian too but she did absolutely love the trip my mom, brother, her and I took years back to Vancouver, Canada. Maybe this is meant to be. Either way this is any ultra cool one of a kind piece.
